Digitization is on everyone’s lips as a buzzword. The key question is what benefit this will bring about for whom in the process chain.
Processes without media discontinuity require standards, such as e. g. the standardized communication protocol BACnet, the BACnet specifications, an implementation guide and, in particular, a BAC library. The latter have so far been lacking in the industry.
The Austrian Armed Forces have created BACnet specifications and an implementation guide and, together with integrators or manufacturers of BACnet devices such as Beckhoff Automation, evon GmbH, and another well-known manufacturer/integrator have developed a BAC library that enables an interoperable seamless process without having to surrender to a manufacturer or integrator.
